Cleaning and maintenance of rubber car mats

Cleanliness and order in the car are not only pleasant aesthetically but also safer. Dust and coarse dirt that settle on the mat over time cause dust to circulate inside the interior, which you continuously breathe (foot movement while driving stirs up dust). What is even more problematic is that an increasing amount of coarse dirt raises the risk of shoe slippage, especially if your footwear is wet. Therefore, we recommend cleaning rubber mats at least once a month, and more often if you drive daily. Below is a simple procedure.

• First, vacuum the mats thoroughly (either in the car or outside).
• Alternatively, shake the dirt out of the mats outside in an appropriate place.
• Vacuum the car floor (the carpet) itself.
• Place the mats outside on a clean surface or hang them on a wall or suitable place.
• It is desirable that the underside of the rubber mat remains clean.
• Spray an all-purpose cleaner (for example, Dodo Juice Total Wipe Out All Purpose Cleaner) evenly on all mats and let it act for 1–2 minutes.
• If the mats are heavily soiled, use a brush (for example, ADBL Ther Brush).
• Ideally, rinse the dirt off with a pressure washer and let the mats dry naturally.
• If you cannot rinse with a pressure washer, use a long-pile microfiber cloth and wipe off the cleaner gradually.
• Once clean and dry, return the rubber mats to the car.
