The Blaupunkt Hamburg SQM 23 DAB is a modern reissue of the cult Hamburg SQM 23 car radio from 1983. It retains the distinctive 1980s look while offering contemporary technology inside – DAB/DAB+, Bluetooth 5.0, two USB inputs, Apple iPod/iPhone support, variocolor display and 4 × 50 W output.
Retro look for 1980s cars
Blaupunkt preserved the original style of the 1983 radio and supplemented it with modern features. The display can be set to 4096 colors, while the button legends are backlit in a warm amber color that mimics the original incandescent illumination.
DAB+ and High-End CODEM IV tuner
The radio uses a high-end Blaupunkt CODEM IV tuner and supports FM, AM, DAB and DAB+. It offers 15 FM, 10 AM and 15 DAB presets, Radiotext, DLS, Service Following and automatic station storage.
Bluetooth 5.0
Built-in Bluetooth 5.0 supports handsfree and music streaming. The radio remembers the last 5 paired devices and one device can be connected at a time. Internal and external microphones are available and voice assistants Siri, Google and Alexa are supported.
Two USB inputs
The Hamburg SQM 23 DAB has 1× USB-A at the front and 1× USB-A at the rear. The front USB is hidden under a cover to preserve the original retro look. It supports FAT16, FAT32 and exFAT and media over 128 GB. Supported formats include MP2, MP3, WMA, APE, FLAC, AAC, MP4 and WAV. Both front and rear USB can be used to control compatible Apple iPod/iPhone devices.
4 × 50 W output
The built-in amplifier offers a maximum output of 4 × 50 W and a nominal output of 4 × 24 W at 14.4 V. For external amplifiers there are 4 RCA pre-out channels < 2 V and a separate stereo Sub-Out with adjustable level and frequency.
