Using anti-vibration material on vehicle doors is important not only to improve speaker acoustics but also to prevent vibrations and resonances. Anti-vibration materials are also an essential foundation for soundproofing the vehicle. Damped doors provide the speakers with ideal conditions for sound reproduction, significantly improving the bass component and the mid-bass speaker's sound. Our Premium door damping material set is suitable for one pair of doors and contains:

1 x acoustic foam Comfortmat Tsunami

How to apply the Premium door damping material set

First remove the plastic door panels from the doors.
Then thoroughly clean and degrease the doors.
For easy application we recommend using the pressure roller Comfortmat Roller.
Apply 1 piece of the anti-vibration material Comfortmat Cobra to the inner metal of the door.
Apply 1/2 of the acoustic material Comfortmat Tsunami behind the speaker.
On the outer metal use 1 piece of Comfortmat Cobra again.
Reinstall the plastic door panels.

Anti-vibration material Comfortmat Cobra

Premium anti-vibration material from Comfortmat, which currently stands out with an unsurpassed ratio of effectiveness to low weight. The material, introduced in 2022, replaces its successful predecessor Comfortmat Dark D2 and brings several improvements, new manufacturing technologies and a revised design. The most important innovation of this exclusive anti-vibration material is the increased effectiveness with a mechanical loss factor (MLF) of 0.40 units, which no other anti-vibration material on today’s market with thickness up to 2.3 mm possesses. It therefore achieves the same effectiveness as the original Dark D3 material with a thickness of 3 mm, while Cobra’s weight is 20% lower. Such parameters were made possible mainly thanks to a newly developed sealant which, besides the above, also offers significantly higher stability and adhesion. Comfortmat engineers also developed an entirely new aluminum foil, which was used for the first time in the automotive industry and contributes to the substantial increase in effectiveness. At first glance the new matte snakeskin pattern design also attracts attention and additionally allows higher adhesion of the second soundproofing layer. Like all Comfortmat anti-vibration materials, Cobra is resistant to water, moisture and oils, has anti-corrosion properties and, thanks to resistance to extreme temperatures, retains the same properties in summer and winter.

Acoustic foam Comfortmat Tsunami

Comfortmat Tsunami is a top acoustic material from the highest Expert range, primarily intended for use in car doors. You will use Tsunami mainly to absorb standing waves behind the speaker, which results in a significant improvement of door speaker acoustics. Thanks to its high noise absorption capability, Tsunami can also be used for general soundproofing of doors and other surfaces; however, much more effective materials are used for that purpose, so we recommend applying Tsunami only directly behind the speaker. Tsunami features the latest generation of modern mounting adhesive sealant developed for the 2018/2019 season, which guarantees the same adhesive effect at temperatures from -50 to +150 degrees. Therefore spontaneous detachment at extreme temperatures and even under water is excluded. The material is manufactured specifically for vertical door surfaces, is 100% waterproof, does not absorb water or moisture, does not rot and does not decompose.

Our tip for applying door soundproofing

This set is suitable for ensuring ideal acoustic conditions for speakers in vehicle doors. If you would like to soundproof the doors as well, we recommend the following procedure. On the inner door metal use, as a second layer over the anti-vibration material Comfortmat Standard S2, the three-layer noise protection material Comfortmat Integra. Two pieces of this material are needed for a pair of doors. Then proceed according to the instructions above. We also recommend soundproofing the plastic door panels using the premium memory foam Comfortmat Soft Wave. This not only additionally soundproofs the plastics but also prevents unwanted resonances. You will need 1 piece of this flexible foam material per plastic panel.
