Musway MS62 Speakers

The Musway MS62 are 2-way coaxial speakers with a 165 mm diameter from the MS product line. Compared to the entry series, they feature more refined driver construction, more sophisticated materials and an even more balanced frequency response. The MS line includes component and coaxial models in the most requested installation sizes and is intended for installations where a more mature, precise and dynamic sound is desired.

A key design element is the paper composite cone with added bamboo fibers. This material combines the natural character of paper with higher internal damping and controlled behavior at larger excursions. The result is a linear frequency response, natural midrange reproduction and excellent transient response without sharp resonances. The mid-bass drivers are equipped with strong magnetic circuits (up to 11 oz), a ventilated 25 mm voice coil and a stamped steel basket with optimized cooling. The 3 Ω impedance allows efficient use of the amplifier’s power, while the true potential of the MS line is realized when powered by a quality external amplifier. The reproduction is controlled, with a firmer bass foundation and significantly better dynamic headroom compared to the basic series. The high-frequency range is handled by integrated 20 mm silk domes with neodymium magnets, which excel in a delicate, detailed and natural treble presentation.

The MS line was also positively reviewed in an independent test by the German magazine Car&Hifi, where it received a very good score of 1.4 in the mid-range. The advantage is simpler assembly, but thanks to the connection or proximity of the bands in one speaker, the sound quality will usually be reduced. As a rule, in the middle of the mid-bass speaker, there is a tweeter whose voice coil works in the second air gap of the common magnetic circuit. The three-way coaxial speaker consists of a mid-bass speaker, a center speaker and a separate tweeter in the front on a special beam. What is valid is that the manufacturer offers a speaker system with a frequency range of 30 to 20,000 Hz, if he is worried about stating the maximum unevenness of the sound pressure in this range, because he can have a tolerance of, for example, +- 20 dB. The unevenness or undulation of the frequency curve in good speaker systems for high-quality music performance should not exceed +-3 dB in the 80 to 12,000 Hz band and +-6 dB in the 40 to 16,000 Hz band. Greater unevenness already depletes or emphasizes certain tonal areas, which can cause audible or even disturbing distortion.
