Meguiar's Soft Buff Rotary Soft Backing Plate

Meguiar's new backing plate system significantly simplifies and streamlines machine polishing. It also makes choosing the correct backing plate for specific pads easier. The WRSBP backing plate is designed for use with rotary polishers with a 5/8" thread. It serves to mount the new Meguiar's Soft Buff 7" foam pads (WRFC7, WRFP7 and WRFF7). This backing plate provides lower aggressiveness and helps achieve a better finish with reduced hologram formation. Meguiar's new backing plates, specifically designed for rotary polishers, have been completely redesigned to deliver the best results when polishing and compounding panels. The special Velcro hook & loop used to attach polishing and sanding pads to the backing plates was developed with a focus on maximum polishing and compounding efficiency. This unique system prevents unwanted loss of polishing force. Standard hook & loop systems can, under rotation and perpendicular pressure, create play between the backing plate and the pad, reducing the polishing power transferred from the polisher. The Velcro system, with its unique construction, ensures a firm connection between the backing plate and the pad, increasing the effectiveness of machine polishing and sanding. Because Velcro eliminates unwanted play, the maximum amount of polishing force is transferred from the polisher to the paint surface. That is why Meguiar's uses this Velcro system on all its pads and backing plates.
