The WRBP backing plate is intended for use with rotary polishers with a 5/8" threaded spindle. It serves to mount the new Meguiar's Soft Buff foam pads with a 7" diameter (WRFC7, WRFP7 and WRFF7) and a wool pad with an 8" diameter (W4000). The new Meguiar's backing plates specially designed for rotary polishers have been completely redesigned to provide the best results in polishing and sanding bodywork. The special Velcro hook & loop fastening used to attach polish and sanding pads to the backing plates was developed with an emphasis on maximum polishing and sanding efficiency. This unique system prevents unwanted loss of polishing power. Ordinary hook & loop fasteners can, under rotation and perpendicular pressure on the backing plate, cause play in the connection between the pad and the plate, reducing the polishing force generated by the polisher. The result is limited correction and polishing capability. The Velcro system, with its unique fiber design, ensures a firm connection between the backing plate and the pad, thereby increasing the efficiency of machine polishing and sanding. Because of the Velcro, undesirable play does not occur and the maximum amount of polishing power is transferred from the polisher to the paint surface. For this reason Meguiar's uses this hook & loop system on all its pads and backing plates. Backing plates can influence the outcome of paint restoration just as much as the polisher, pad, polishing compound or the technique used. If you use a poor-quality backing plate or one with an unsuitable hook & loop, the result of your work may be negatively affected. While it is technically possible to use pads or backing plates with ordinary hook & loop, for the reasons described above we recommend our customers always use only the premium Meguiar's pads and backing plates to ensure the best possible results in correction, polishing and waxing of paint.

How to use

• Make sure the polisher is turned off and disconnected from power.
• Remove any existing backing plate (if installed) and clean the spindle of dust.
• Place the Soft Buff Rotary Backing Plate (WRBP) onto the polisher spindle and tighten securely according to the machine manufacturer's instructions.
• Attach the pad using the hook & loop system — firmly and evenly.
• Set the appropriate machine speed for the given stage of work (correction or finish).
• Work panel by panel — when using a rotary polisher monitor temperature and pressure to avoid paint damage.
• After completing work on the vehicle, disconnect the tool, remove the pad, clean the backing plate of dust/compound and store in a dry and clean place.
