Gyeon Q2R GelCoat Ceramic Coating for Boats
Gyeon Q²R is a high-performance ceramic coating for boats and yachts. It protects surfaces against UV radiation and oxidation, prevents dirt build-up, minimizes water spots, is highly hydrophobic and is very easy to use. It is applied in a single layer and can be buffed immediately after application. Self-cleaning properties for use in saltwater are essential, as much of a boat’s hull remains underwater and is exposed to heavy organic contamination. With the Q²R GelCoat ceramic coating, everyday maintenance of a yacht becomes much faster and easier. Very high resistance to water-spot formation is also a major benefit. Intense UV radiation together with saltwater are the main causes of paint oxidation and loss of its properties. Q²R GelCoat is a highly concentrated ceramic coating with extreme chemical resistance; its durable layer protects against all these negative influences.

How to use
- Never apply the coating in direct sunlight or on a heated surface.
- First, wash the boat thoroughly with a quality shampoo without added gloss or protection.
- It must be a pure car shampoo (e.g. Gyeon Q²R Wash).
- If necessary, perform mechanical paint decontamination using a clay.
- The clay procedure is described, for example, in our article "How to decontaminate paint".
- Dry the boat surface.
- There must be no residual water anywhere during application of the ceramic coating.
- As a final but very important step, thoroughly de-grease the surface.
- We recommend de-greasing the boat twice using Gyeon Q²R Degrease and a long-pile microfiber cloth such as the Purestar Grass Buffing Towel.
- Then the paint is responsibly prepared for application of the ceramic coating.
- Without proper preparation the ceramic coating will not perform correctly!
- Always put on protective rubber gloves before application—health comes first!
- Shake the bottle with the ceramic coating.
- Place drops of the ceramic coating onto the supplied applicator sponge.
- Apply in crosswise motions to an area no larger than 1 x 1 m.
- After application, immediately wipe the coating with a microfiber cloth (e.g. Gyeon Q²M PolishWipe EVO or Gyeon Q²M SoftWipe EVO).
- Work gradually, area by area.
- During application we recommend changing cloths—over time a cloth will become loaded and may leave marks which, if dried, will be impossible to remove. (We recommend having 3 to 4 microfiber cloths for buffing the coating.)
- Do not drop the microfiber cloth on the ground!
- After successful application, do not use the boat for two days.
