Audison AV 12 D2 II is a compact subwoofer from the VOCE II reference series, designed for installations with limited space where, despite small installation requirements, a full, fast and controlled bass performance is expected. The design is rated for a continuous power of 550 W RMS, while high mechanical robustness and thermal stability allow long-term loading without loss of dynamics or control.
At its core is a dual 2‑ohm voice coil with a diameter of 1.5" made from CCAW wire, combining low weight with high thermal resistance and precise response. The magnetic circuit was completely optimized using FEM simulations to maximally concentrate the magnetic flux in the voice‑coil gap, which positively affects efficiency, response speed and cone control. Stable operation at high SPL is ensured by the Airflow Venting Cooling system, which effectively dissipates heat from critical parts of the motor and eliminates thermal power limitations.
Mechanical integrity at large excursions is increased by the Radial Reinforcement Framework, i.e. internal radial reinforcements under the cone, while the extended dust cap with the VOCE II design was optimized by FEM simulations for higher stiffness and structural damping. The pressure‑cast aluminum basket with a magnet cover provides high rigidity, effective heat dissipation and stable airflow. A pair of integrated cable routing hooks, placed entirely within the subwoofer footprint, facilitates a clean installation even in very tight conditions. Connections are handled by robust spring horizontal terminals prepared for cables up to 8 AWG.
The AV 12 D2 II is optimized for small sealed enclosures with a volume of 12–14 l and delivers deep, clean and very fast bass with excellent control. The package includes a protective metal grille in black finish that protects the cone without negatively affecting the acoustics or the appearance of the installation. eID technology for product verification, traceability and direct access to Audison technical documentation is included as standard.
