Many years ago Zapco introduced its DSP processor DSP-Z8 IV. It was designed to bring true audiophile sound quality to an affordable DSP. The Zapco DSP-Z8 IV was a real giant-killer, delivering sound quality better than units that cost even twice as much. But as Zapco has always said — and will always say — “We believe we can be even better.” First, the updated DSP-Z8 IV II line was introduced in 2018 bringing a range of improvements, and in 2022 we saw a completely new model series Zapco DSP-Z8 IV AT, which includes two new DSP processors, two DSP-equipped amplifiers and a digital monoblock. What’s new in the IV AT series? New features, new controls and, of course, even better sound. The unified Black and Copper look matching Zapco’s AP series audiophile amplifiers is just the beginning.

New features of the Zapco ADSP-Z12 IV-10A

The amplifier offers a total of 10 channels with 80 W RMS per channel at 4 ohms. It is stable down to 2 ohms and channels can be bridged to 5 x 240 W RMS. The amplifier provides 8 high-level inputs, 8 low-level RCA inputs and, new for this model, 2 RCA outputs. New coaxial and optical inputs accept a digital signal from the head unit or a portable HD player. Also new is the ability to set input signal level, improved PC software and — notably — an optional Bluetooth module for Hi-Res music streaming. There is also a new remote control that lets you change the input source, control the main volume or the amplifier’s subwoofer output and even skip tracks when playing music from, for example, a mobile app.

Improved PC software

The new Zapco ADSP-Z8 IV-6AT amplifier delivers great sound and the features of the Series IV II while adding a coaxial digital input, an optical digital input and Bluetooth streaming capability. Several improvements have also been made to the PC software. Drop-down menus now allow you to name each output channel to match your system setup. The added Advanced menu also includes new Mixing Set and AutoTune functions. The new DSP-Z8 IV AT gives you more input selection options. You can have up to 12 input channels that you can instantly configure by selecting 2-Ch, 4-Ch, 6-Ch, 8-Ch, 10-Ch or 12-Ch in the inputs section on the front. If you need to sum the factory stereo channels to obtain full-range input, simply click SUM and the system will do it for you. But if your system is more complex, you can also enter the Advanced menu and use the Mixing Set to manually assign exactly how much input each output channel receives from each input channel, so it works best for your specific audio setup.
