Alpine iLX-F905DU multimedia car radio

The iLX-F905DU Alpine Halo9 for Fiat Ducato 3, Peugeot Boxer 2 and Citroen Jumper 2 is the second generation of the world-renowned Alpine Halo product line, which features a 9-inch high-resolution WXGA touch screen and comes with all required installation parts (such as wiring harness plug-and-play, CAN interface, frame, etc.) for the Ducato 3. The super thin display seems to be simply placed above the dashboard and can be adjusted in various ways for the best position. Enjoy wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (wired) compatibility, DAB+ digital radio, USB video playback, high definition audio playback, hands-free Bluetooth and audio streaming and much more with this amazing head unit. You can choose from a wide range of online navigation apps, such as Google Maps, and use them on the Alpine screen via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Bring exceptionally good sound quality to your vehicle: The Alpine Halo9 is the world's first head unit with a built-in Class D amplifier and has a wide range of professional sound tuning features such as 2-band X-overs, parametric EQ, digital time correction and much more.

Main features

  • 9-inch WXGA HD display - The large 9-inch WXGA touchscreen display has a resolution of 1280 x 720p and contains more than 2.7 million pixel elements - making icons, menus and visual content on your dashboard extremely sharp and vivid. The screen is attached to an adjustable bracket attached to a single DIN chassis that is designed to fit most 1DIN or 2DIN holes on the dashboard.
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay - The iLX-F905DU "works with Apple CarPlay" wirelessly, allowing iPhone users to make and receive calls, access and write text messages, play music and get directions so they can focus on the road ahead. Apple CarPlay is accessible via the capacitive touchscreen or the microphone button to activate Siri voice control. Thanks to the WiFi connection, you can keep your iPhone in your pocket and not have to plug it in all the time (except for charging).
  • Simple control from the steering wheel - if your Ducato is equipped with steering wheel controls, you can also use them with the iLX-F905DU. The Alpine system is fully integrated with the vehicle's electronics and accepts all driving controls such as volume, telephone, voice control and mute.
  • Wide entertainment options and online navigation - the brand new DAB/radio tuner enables DAB - FM switching and allows you to enjoy seamless radio reception without interruption. In addition to increased USB video playback formats (MP4, MOV, FLV, MKV), the Alpine Halo9 offers many other entertainment options: the built-in Bluetooth module allows audio streaming from the phone, and the HDMI input allows the connection of an external video playback device. You can of course use Android Auto with any compatible Android smartphone (wired connection).
  • The world's first head unit with a built-in Class D amplifier - the iLX-F905DU is the first aftermarket unit in the world to include a built-in 4x 50W Class D amplifier - enabling excellent high-end sound reproduction with highly reduced noise or phase shift. A key advantage of Class D amplification technology is its high efficiency of around 90% compared to 50-70% of Class AB amplifiers. New high-speed fans with internal coolers keep your Alpine Halo9 cool - and the music plays.
  • Enjoy excellent sound quality - with a 56-band parametric equalizer in advanced mode, 2-band digital X-over, 6-channel digital time correction and several Bass Engine SQ and MediaXpander sound tuning options, you have excellent tools for tuning your Alpine Halo9 and connected amplifier/speaker system to perfection. But we don't stop there: Alpine Halo9 is Hi-Res Audio certified and can decode and play Hi-Res Audio files up to 96 kHz / 1.536 kbps from USB sources in uncompressed supported formats such as FLAC, WAV and APE.
  • Drive-Assist cameras - a reversing camera is a great way to ensure safer reversing. The camera image automatically turns on when you put the gear into reverse, and distance guides appear on the screen, which can be adjusted to match the size of your car, so you can park your car safely.
  • External Wireless Controller - The separately available RUE-BK01 control button connects wirelessly to the Alpine Halo9 and can be installed on the left or right side of the touch screen. Alternatively, you can also place the control button anywhere else in the vehicle with a simple custom installation. Turning the knob adjusts the head unit's volume output, while pressing it activates the rear camera on the screen. Note: This control knob has no function when wireless Apple CarPlay is active.
  • Freely adjustable viewing angle - You can adjust the viewing angle of the iLX-F905DU from +45 degrees to -20 degrees to match a wide range of dashboard angles. You can freely adjust the viewing angle at any time to achieve the best visibility and prevent glare from sunlight.
  • Adjustable height and distance of the display - the height of the display can be adjusted +/- 3 cm from the center position. This allows for full-standing or hanging display configurations, as well as everything in between. You can also adjust the distance between the display and the instrument panel in the range of 20 mm. After selecting the height of the display and the distance to the dashboard, everything locks into place.
  • Including custom frame and mounting brackets for Fiat Ducato 3 and related caravans - iLX-F905DU includes custom frame, installation brackets, CAN interface wiring harness and antenna adapter. The CAN interface retains the use of remote control buttons on the steering wheel.

Car radio sizeCar radios are divided into 2 basic sizes, 1DIN car radios and 2DIN car radios .

1DIN size car radios - the exact dimensions including the metal frame where the car radio is inserted are 184 x 53 mm, the external dimensions of the branded 1DIN car radio are 188 x 59 mm.

We know 2DIN car radios from newer vehicles, a classic example is the VW Golf IV with navigation. The dimensions of a 2DIN car radio without a metal frame are 180 x 101 mm, the external dimensions of a branded 2DIN car radio are 189 x 119 mm.

HDMI / MHLHDMI stands for High-Definition Multi-media Interface, an uncompressed video and audio signal in digital format. HDMI supports video transmission in standard, enhanced or high-definition quality, and up to 8-channel digital audio.

Yes (requires Alpine Special HDMI connector)
Integrated BluetoothBluetooth is a communication technology used for wireless connection between two or more electronic devices. A mobile phone, for example, can be connected to a car radio with built-in Bluetooth. Most car radios for 2017 and later can also wirelessly stream (play) music via Bluetooth -> A2DP function. Yes
Audio Streaming via BluetoothA2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) is a Bluetooth profile that enables the wireless transmission of stereo audio from an A2DP source, typically a mobile phone or computer, to an A2DP receiver (car radio). These devices usually also support the AVRCP profile. Yes
External microphone included in the packageThe external microphone is connected from the back of the car radio to the input marked "MIC". For ideal sound quality during a phone call, we recommend placing the external microphone on the left "A" pillar at the point where the "A" pillar and the roof panel connect to each other. A very good position to place an external microphone is also near the central rear-view mirror. Yes
Number of RCA outputsRCA outputs , colloquially called "cinches", are used to connect an external amplifier or active subwoofer. Aftermarket car radios are usually equipped with 1 to 3 pairs of RCA outputs. FRONT, REAR and SUB are used.

It also depends on how many volt outputs the car radio is equipped with. More basic models of car radios have 2V outputs, more expensive units have 4V and more. The higher the specified value, the less power demands are placed on the external amplifier and the sound quality increases.
        3 pairs
Output level on RCAAn important parameter if you are going to install an external amplifier. If you purchase a car radio with a basic value, i.e. 2V outputs, then greater demands will be placed on the power of the amplifier. As the value increases, e.g. 4V or 5V, the power of the external amplifier increases significantly, in layman's terms.

A car radio with strong outputs therefore has the advantage that you do not pull so much power through the amplifier and thus achieve a better sound, as external amplifiers lose control at higher loads.
